Elliptic surfaces, bifurcations, and equidistribution

Abstract: In joint work with Myrto Mavraki, we studied the arithmetic intersection of sections of elliptic surfaces, defined over number fields. I will describe our results and formulate some related open questions about families of maps (dynamical systems) on P^1 over a base curve.
